The Philadelphia Womens Lacrosse Umpires Association this week presented Academy Park  with the 2015 Sportsmanship award.

The award,  which was established in 2013, is given to a high school team in the greater Philadelphia area. Nearly 200 umpires vote for a team that exemplifies, in their opinion, the guidelines of sportsmanship and fair play.

The criteria includes self-control, courage, persistence, open graciousness in winning or losing and respecting the judgments of the officials.

Academy Park is head coached by Susan Reutter.

Strath Haven won the award in 2013 and Germantown Friends was the recipient in 2014.
