Baseball: Stat leaders are updated!

There’s just over a week left in the season for the District One and 12 schools to sort themselves out and earn their way into the postseason, which makes this a good time to post the latest batch of stat leaders. A few highlights from the new group…

The leader in doubles is Academy Park’s Tamir Ware with nine, though Garnet Valley’s Ben Faso has been on a tear of late. Thanks to the fence-less confines of his home park, Haverford’s Dylan Resnick is leading the way in triples, the only player with three. Speaking of fences, the short porch and long schedules skew the power numbers toward Haverford School, which is part of the reason why Kevin McGowan, Nick Greco and Bryan Hyland are vying for the home run title. Hyland and McGowan are also the pacesetters for extra-base hits.

Among the pitchers, Marple Newtown’s Grant Wallace has separated himself with six wins, one ahead of Central League foe Rob Brown of Penncrest. It’s no surprise that Haverford School’s varied and deep staff has allowed the specialization to have Justin Meyer lead the county with three saves.
