Baseball: New stat leaders

In between the raindrops, baseball players in Delco have somehow managed to compile statistics this season, which means that we have stat leaders to post up here. All these are based on games played through Monday, April 21 that are reported to the Daily Times. Here are the leaders.

Haverford School’s Brian Hyland leads the way with six doubles on the season, while a crowd of guys with five each follow behind. Cardinal O’Hara’s Isaiah Hammond is the only player in Delco, surprisingly enough, with multiple triples. The home run leaderboard is dotted by Haverford School hitters, with O’Hara’s Nick Newman the only non-Ford with multiple dingers. And in terms of extra-base hits, the top four are all Fords: Haverford School’s Hyland and Kevin McGowan and Haverford High’s Nick Cerelli and Dylan Resnick.

For the pitchers, Rob Brown’s performance Monday vaults him into the ranks of the three-win hurlers, joining fellow Central Leaguers Scott McKenna, Ashton Raines and Grant Wallace, plus two representatives each from Haverford School and Interboro. Four pitchers have done the job as closers with two saves each.
