Swimming: Records, splits and more … Top times are updated

After a fast weekend at the Eastern Interscholastic Championships, the top times lists get a pretty good shakeup. With the Inter-Ac powerhouses having taken their best shot, you’ll notice representatives from those teams owning the top spot in just about every category, save for a couple of relay splits (more on that momentarily) and Cardinal O’Hara sprinter Hanna Blewett.

This week’s listing features three new records. On the boys side, Haverford School’s Matt Haigh took down Bob Gavin’s 31-year-old record in the 500 free, the oldest on the books. Episcopal Academy’s Josh Owsiany bettered his 11-dive county record en route to a fifth straight title, which pairs nicely with his six-dive mark. And the only girls record to bite the dust came courtesy of Emma Seiberlich, who downed three-time Daily Times swimmer of the year Emily Baturka’s signature record in the 100 backstroke.

Also included in this week’s list are the results from the District One Diving Championships, allowing us to add the 11-dive category. In recognition of the fast relay times being posted, there’s also a list of top 50- and 100-free relay splits. These are culled from championships season only (so the Inter-Ac Championships, Centrals, Easterns and Catholics/District 12s), and apply for 200 free relay/anchor of medley relay and 400 free relay splits.
