The Patriots (17-5) remain second in Class AAA after an emphatic win over Archbishop Wood, 77-47 Sunday. That’s the same Wood team that crawled up to eighth in the Class AAAA rankings, having handed No. 1 Roman Catholic (20-2) its second loss of the season earlier last week.

Carroll still trails Neumann-Goretti (21-1) in Class AAA, while Imhotep Charter (14-8) is up to third. Carroll has drawn the No. 3 seed in the Catholic League tournament, and they’ll square off with No. 6 seed Conwell-Egan in the quarterfinals Friday. Egan (15-7) is ranked third in Class AA this week.

In AAAA, there’s a shuffle among the leading quartet from District 12. Despite the loss, Roman remains tops, with Public League frontrunner Martin Luther King (16-6) moving into second. St. Joseph’s Prep (18-4), which downed La Salle in a triple-OT thriller Sunday, leapfrogs them into third, while the Explorers (17-5) sit fourth.

Abington, the No. 6 seed in District One, leads the pack statewide, its 20-3 record earning it the No. 6 spot in the rankings. A spot behind in the rankings, as they are in the District One seedings, is Pennsbury (19-4).

Four Delco teams – Academy Park (16-6), Chester (13-9), Penn Wood (17-5) and Ridley (18-5) – are in the “Others to Watch” category in Class AAAA.

Other District One representatives in that group include Conestoga (20-2), the top seed in the District One Tournament, as well as Coatesville (15-9, No. 14), Downingtown West (19-4, No. 10), Methacton (20-3, No. 2), Pennridge (20-3, No. 3) and Plymouth Whitemarsh (20-2, No. 4).

The top four seeds in District One’s Class AAA tournament are all in the OW category, including No. 3 Glen Mills (16-6). Others include top-seeded Octorara (22-1), No. 2 Lower Moreland (20-1) and No. 4 Pottsgrove (18-5).

The two teams ahead of Delco Christian in the District One Class A bracket – top-seeded Phil-Mont Christian (17-5) and No. 2 Plumstead Christian (14-8) – are in the OW category. Delco Christian, the No. 3 seed, would likely have to tangle with Plumstead in the semifinals of Districts to earn one of the two states bids available.
