Three Delco players were among 16 Pennsylvanians and 823 players nationwide nominated for the McDonalds’ All-American Game in April.
Among the nominees (pdf) are Archbishop Carroll center Ernest Aflakpui and forward Derrick Jones and Haverford School guard Shawn Alston. All three have their college future decided, with Aflakpui and Alston bound for Temple and Jones committed to UNLV.
Former Archbishop Carroll and Lower Merion guard Nick Jones, now at Math, Civics and Sciences, is also on the list, as is former Haverford School guard Sean Lloyd, who spent last season at Imhotep Charter before transferring to Mt. Zion Prep in Maryland (though he’s erroneously listed as a Haverford School player).
Of the 16 players from PA on the list, 13 hail from Southeastern PA. Also on the list is St. Joe’s Prep’s Chris Clover, the Father Judge duo of William Brazukas and Patrick Mulville, Germantown Academy’s Tim Guers and Sam Lindgren, MCS teammates Mike Watkins and Samir Doughty and Neumann-Goretti’s Lamarr Kimble.
The not-so-short list of the class of 2015 will be reduced to 48 players for the Jan. 28 roster release. The game will be held April 1 at the United Center in Chicago.
