Two Delco players found their ways onto the All-State soccer lists released by the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association this week.
For the girls, Strath Haven All-Delco forward Lizzie King got a nod. The sophomore forward who scored 24 goals this season was one of only four sophomores and two freshmen to make the team.
King and Conestoga defender Paige Kozlowski, the Central League Player of the Year as voted by league coaches, are the only Central League inclusions.
On the boys side, Haverford School’s Connor Gregory earned a place with his 20-goal season which helped lead the Fords to a third straight Inter-Ac title. The two-time All-Delco was voted the Inter-Ac Player of the Year by league coaches.
No Central Leaguers were voted to the boys team.
As both selections were forwards, it should be noted that there’s a marked bias toward goalscorers on the teams. The two teams consist of 44 forwards (25 boys, 29 girls) compared to 16 defenders (eight each). The boys team also includes just one goalkeeper.
