On the girls side, both District One champion Springfield and runner-up Garnet Valley will be in the same place, West Chester East High School, for the first round Wednesday. Springfield will contend with an all-Cougars matchup when they entertain Downingtown East, the six seed from District One, at 4 p.m. That will follow an all-Central League tilt between Garnet Valley and District One’s fifth seed, Conestoga, at 6 p.m. (Updated: Please note that the times from those two games have flip-flopped; Springfield plays first, then Garnet Valley. The bracket is updated to reflect that change.) Archbishop Carroll, the District 12 champs, will also stay close to home, venturing down to Neumann University for a 5 p.m. date with Harriton, the third seed from District One.

The longest trip of the bunch is undertaken by Radnor, the four seed from District One, which will travel to Exeter High School for a 6 p.m. date with District Three champion Carlisle. An all District One matchup awaits Penncrest, the No. 5 seed. They’ll square off with district runner-up Bishop Shanahan, a rematch of a taut, 11-9 game in the regular season, at West Chester Henderson at 4. Finally, the Springfield boys’ reward for winning the District One third-place game is tangling with La Salle, the District 12 champ, at Plymouth Whitemarsh at 6.
