Thursday’s girls hoops action was all about finishing strong, whether it was Strath Haven downing Marple Newtown to cap a 14-win season or Garnet Valley putting the finishing touches on an unbeaten run through the Central League, plus all the other girls basketball games. For the boys on the hardwood, Mahir Johnson scored his 1,000th high school point to lead Chester to a win and the lead to our hoops roundup, while Matthew De George’s notebook looks back at Interboro’s triumph over the Clippers Tuesday. In the pool, Upper Darby’s girls got the better of neighborhood rival Bonner-Prendergast, while the Chichester boys clinched the Del Val title with a win over Glen Mills. On the mats, Upper Darby and Springfield each scored landslide wins over Lower Merion schools.
