Episcopal Academy All-Delco Margaux Paolino has been chosen to join the U.S. Junior National team.

The All-Delco sophomore will represent the country in Uruguay next month and potentially this summer in the 2014 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in Nanjing, China.

Paolino set the Episcopal Academy single-season goal scoring record last fall (27).

“Margaux is an exceptional athlete and a wonderful teammate!” said Gina Buggy, EA’s field hockey coach and athletic director, in a press release issued by the school. “I am especially proud of her accomplishment in being selected to this developmental Olympic team. I think it is a great opportunity for her and I know she will have much to add to this select team.”

Joining Paolino, a Villanova resident, on the U.S. squad are Kelsey Bing (Houston, Texas), Austyn Cuneo (Waterford, N.J.), Skyler Fretz (Oley, Pa.), Ashley Hoffman (Mohnton, Pa.), Sophia Miller (Medford, N.J.), Madison Morano (Hammonton, N.J.), Samantha Steele (Eagleville, Pa.), Julianna Tornetta (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.), and Sophia Tornetta (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.).

Paolino is readying for the qualifying tournament in Uruguay Feb. 5-11.  If U.S. finishes in one of the top two spots in next month’s qualifying tournament, it will qualify for the YOG in China this August.
