It was a bit of a busy evening on the Delco sports scene Tuesday. Where to begin? Let’s start on the track, where Claudine Andre turned heads at Delco Indoors, while the Upper Darby boys enjoyed an impressive medal haul at the Glen Mills Invitational. There was a bevy of action on the basketball court as well. On the girls side, Matt Smith saw Maria Kilcullen pace a big Episcopal Academy win over Baldwin. The Central League’s featured tilt between previously-undefeated Ridley and Upper Darby went the way of the Royals, courtesy of a big night from Dominique Williams, plus all the other girls basketball action. Dennis Deitch was on hand to see Jack Donaghy lead Haverford to an impressive road win at Penncrest, while the rest of the Central League games are led by Ridley knocking Upper Darby from the ranks of the unbeaten. Elsewhere, Mike Wood’s shooting touch led Sun Valley to a Ches-Mont win, plus the rest of the hoops action. Last but not least, Springfield rallies to tie Garnet Valley in girls swimming, while Ivan Michalovic leads the Garnet Valley boys to their first win. The non-Central League swimming leads with Matt Haigh’s record-setting season debut for Haverford School.
