The holiday action on the hardwood continued Saturday with the conclusion of the majority of tournaments. For Sun Valley, freshman Kate Lannon was a big part of its title in the Preferred Sportswear Christmas Tournament over Interboro. The rest of the girls hoop action leads with a three-overtime classic between Ridley and Penn Wood that was decided thanks in large part by Marykate Rumbaugh’s 34-point evening and Jalessa Rodriguez’s game-winning shot. For the boys, Nelson Blickman’s influence on Radnor was clear as it earned the title at the Walt Katuzny Tournament. Up in Allentown, the combined heroics of Brian Allen and Chris Strawley led Springfield to a win at the William Allen Tournament, plus all the other boys tourney action. On the mats, Anthony and Austin Petril’s championships at the Governor Mifflin Holiday Tournament paced a big day for Upper Darby, plus a bunch of other tournaments all around the state involving Delco grapplers. And from Friday, Penn Wood’s Christina Holmes and Strath Haven’s deep relay contingent decked the halls with boughs of medals at the New York Armory track.
