Oh my goodness, it’s actually here.

The Delco season got started off right yesterday as both Episcopal Academy and The Haverford School claimed wins in their openers. But the PIAA teams in the county get Friday (at the earliest, anyway) and it’s bound to be a very good year in Delco.

How good? Well, there are two teams from the county garnering major attention from Michael Bullock of Penn Live, who does weekly rankings from across the stats for all four classes.

Bullock is awfully smitten with Paul Romanczuk‘s Archbishop Carroll squad. He places the Patriots at No. 1 in the state in Class AAA ahead of District 12 foes Neumann-Goretti and (defending state champion) Imhotep Charter, respectively.

Bullock had Chester as his top-ranked AAAA team all year last year until the Clippers fell to Lower Merion in the state title game. With 10 players gone and only Conrad Chambers returning, Chester tumbles all the way to … No. 2 behind Roman Catholic.

Bullock does a fantastic job with the rankings on a weekly basis, so keep an eye out for them.
