Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday roundups

It’s been a busy week, hence our delay in posting the roundups. But let us do our best to get you caught up on the week that was in Delco.

On the volleyball court, Springfield stated its case as one of the Central League front-runners Monday with a three-set win over Marple Newtown. Also Monday, Academy Park cruised over Chester in its league opener. Mallorie Estock led the way for Sun Valley Tuesday, while Alex Quigley and Colleen Donnelly paced Notre Dame Wednesday.

Strath Haven boys soccer showed some mettle Tuesday, Nate Engleka’s OT goal leading them past Garnet Valley. The Jags rallied Wednesday, though, with Colton Richards’ goal downing Interboro. Monday, it was Marple Newtown’s Ben Staud coming up big in goal, while Brett Hollenback saved Sun Valley in overtime Tuesday. For the girls, the Inter-Ac contingent has lit up the scoreboard earlier, with Kristin Burnetta’s two goals leading Agnes Irwin Wednesday while Phoebe McClernon’s hat trick paced Notre Dame Tuesday. Monday, it was all Kara Borowik could do to keep Chichester close to Upper Merion.

Sarah Murray has found a home in the field hockey cage for Chichester, where she authored a shutout of Academy Park Tuesday. Aliya Kalman played the hero for Penncrest Tuesday, while Shivani Chinnappan came through for Garnet Valley Wednesday.

On the links, Ethan Heller and Griffin Colvin did the job again for Penncrest, while Brynn Walker stole the show for Radnor Tuesday. Gabrielle Levy led Cardinal O’Hara in a Catholic League tennis grudgematch Wednesday, while Courtney Jenkins was once again stellar for AP. And finally, the cross country season started with Matt and Chris Kazanjian and Laura Krasovec leading the Penncrest boys and girls teams, respectively, to sweeps.
