Two of the three District One softball games involving Delco teams were postponed Friday due to inclement weather.
In Class A, the quarterfinal round matchup between Morrsville and Delco Christian is being played at Troop Field as I am writing this. The winner takes on top-seeded Bristol Tuesday afternoon in the semifinal round.
The all-Delco District One Class AAA games will be made up Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock, weather permitting. No. 9 Chichester takes on No. 1 Radnor, while No. 4 Springfield hosts No. 5 Sun Valley in a rematch of last year’s District One championship game.
What to know about both games:
Radnor earned the No. 1 seed thanks in large part to a strong finish in the regular season. The Red Raiders defeated Nazareth Academy in the final week, propelling them to the top seed, and pushing Nazarth to the No. 2 seed. After losing back-to-back games following a seven-game winning streak to start the season, the Red Raiders have reeled off 11 wins on their last 12 outings. They have yet to lose to a nonleague opponent.
Chichester limped out of the regular season dropping two straight decisions to Interboro, but the Eagles picked up10th victory Tuesday with a 5-1 decision at No. 8 Pottsgrove.
Springfield is hoping not to lose its third straight District One playoff game to Sun Valley. The Vanguards eliminated the Cougars in the 2011 tournament and beat them to win the district title a season ago. Springfield is 9-2 in its last 11 games.
Sun Valley hasn’t quite found its groove, evidence by its 5-5 record over its previous 10 games.
