The honors keep piling up for Springfield two-time All-Delco Alex Poplawski.
This time, the two-time All-American was named to the prestigious Under Armour All-America Game to be played at Towson University July 6.
From the press release…
Baltimore, MD (May 21, 2013) ─ Under Armour, Inc. (NYSE: UA) and Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. announced today the rosters for the 2013 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic®. Eighty-eight of the nation’s top boys and girls high school seniors have been selected to the sport’s highest honor and will play in the eighth annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic on Saturday, July 6 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, MD.
Under Armour All-Americans are selected by a panel of lacrosse experts from Inside Lacrosse Magazine. The yearlong selection process includes input from college and high school coaches from across the country as well as nominations from the public.
I could be wrong, but I believe that Poplawski is the first Springfield player to be selected to the game. The senior Stanford signee has enjoyed another banner year as she and the Cougars have made tonight’s District One semifinal and have already punched their ticket to states. Poplawski and Episcopal Academy All-Delco Kevin Gayhardt are the only two Delco players selected to their respective games.
The selection caught Poplawski off-guard, but she was more than happy about it as she told Harry Chaykun after the Cougars toppled Boyertown to make it to the District One final.
“I’m very surprised, but I’m excited and know it will be a great honor to be able to play with and against some of the greatest players in the country,” Poplawski said.
Poplawski and Springfield will play Harriton for the district title Thursday night at 7:30 at West Chester East.
