Garnet Valley boys lacrosse got off to a hot start against Conestoga, but the Pioneers came back for an 8-5 win despite a hat trick from Brock D’Annunzio. The weekly notebook details the exploits of Strath Haven boys goalie Ted Bergman in his first year as a starter. On the girls’ side, All-Delco Coley Ricci‘s incredible defensive effort and the ensuing 11-5 Garnet Valley upset of Conestoga leads the rest of the schools roundup. At the Delco Track Championships, Cardinal O’Hara’s Kevin James barely fended off Catholic League rival Will McDermott of Bonner-Prendergast in the 3,200. On the girls side, Upper Darby’s Claudine Andre grabbed a pair of titles. Cardinal O’Hara softball couldn’t get the bats going in a 1-0 heartbreaker to Conwell-Egan. Strath Haven baseball stayed perfect thanks to a big day of the ‘pen from Caedon Saltis.
