Look at the previous All-Delco teams and you’ll notice they’re missing a pretty important spot. Here’s the 2012 team for a frame of reference. Attack? Check. Midfield? Check. LSM/Defense? Check. Goalie? Of course. But no FOGO and that seems a little messed up, doesn’t it? All they do is get the ball to the scorers. No big deal. Ain’t no thang.

Actually, it’s a very big deal and if the NCAA All-American team and all of the other teams have a FOGO spot, it seems a little silly to not have a FOGO spot.

Which is why I’m incredibly pleased to announce that after two years of fighting for a way to recognize these fine gentlemen, there will be a FOGO spot on the 2013 All-Delco team. It will be figured out the same way as any other position – with me burning up coaches’ phone lines and text messages – and will seek to include the very best faceoff men (one on first team, one on second team) among the list of elite Delco lacrosse players.

So who’s it going to be? Episcopal Academy’s Matt Ernst? One of the dynamic Garnet Valley duo of Zach Penfil and Mike Lanham? Radnor’s Jake ShapiroPenncrest’s Dylan Protesto? Will someone else close out the season on a strong note and make coaches take notice?

Win those draws, fellas.
