Today’s high school section featured a memorable story about track stars Manteo Mitchell and Fawn Dorr meeting with Upper Darby students after their track team won a nationwide video contest. Those same quality — determination, hard work and some really fast runners — will be on display this weekend at Franklin Field for the Penn Relays, which kick off Thursday. So let’s set the table with our coverage, brought to you by Terry Toohey.

Villanova’s Sheila Ried has long been a staple at the Relays, anchoring the Wildcats to a win in the DMR last year. This time around, it’ll be Emily Lipari toting the baton last. On the high school front, Cardinal O’Hara’s boys are looking forward to another national spotlight to step into. And then there are the big guns which come out Saturday when the U.S. takes on the World in a battle that promises to be star-studded.
