Two-time defending PIAA Class AAAA champion Chester took out St. Joseph’s Prep, 62-53, to book a date with Lower Merion in a rematch of this year’s district title game and last year’s state and district title games. A big part of that is reigning Daily Times Player of the Year’s Rondae Jefferson‘s willingness to do whatever it takes. Chester was expected to be in Hershey all season long. Archbishop Carroll, though, was not, but the Patriots will be aiming to take out Imhotep Charter for the state title game after a 50-45 win over Montour. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette story) (Pittsburgh Tribune story) Sophomores Nick Jones (three late free throws), Ernest Aflakpui (career-high 15 points) and Derrick Jones (21 points, 16 rebounds, two blocks) were all vital to the Patriots’ win.
