Rashan DeJarnette is stepping up big-time for Chester in the postseason. This time, he dropped 15 points and reigning Daily Times Player of the Year Rondae Jefferson posted a triple-double to lead the Clippers to an 85-44 rout of Strath Haven in the second round of the District One Class AAAA playoffs. Chester will take on Upper Darby, which qualified for states with a wild come-from-behind win over HarritonKen Bartow came through with a big performance as Ridley qualified for the state tournament with its second straight overtime a win, a 64-61 upset of Norristown. Penn Wood will have to try to make states the hard way after a 66-52 loss to Abington. Penncrest will join the Patriots in playbacks after another loss at the hands of Lower Merion. On the girls side, Gia DeAngelo‘s 31 points fueled Sun Valley’s 66-51 win over Phoenixville. Chichester clinched its first playoff win in 19 years, a 54-41 decision over Nazareth Academy. The rest of the high school action leads with The Christian Academy’s girls basketball teams sealing a spot in the Tri-State Christian Conference semifinals.

From Wednesday…

Archbishop Carroll boys basketball simply can’t get over the Neumann-Goretti hump in a 57-34 loss in the Catholic League semifinal. The Patriots will still be in the state playoffs and they can use this loss as motivation. Garnet Valley girls basketball will have to battle back after a 47-38 loss to Boyertown.
