The wrestling postseason got started with a bang Saturday. Steve Lienert took in the Central League festivities, highlighted by Garnet Valley All-Delco Mike Marino‘s 100th career win in the final of the 120-pound final. Over in the Del Val tournament, Matt Chandik chronicles Interboro’s Sonny Armstrong‘s road back from an injury to a 182-pound title. Reigning Daily Times Wrestler of the Year L.J. Barlow, a sophomore at The Haverford School, claimed the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Tournament at 195 pounds. On the girls basketball front, Kristin Hinckley and reigning Daily Times Player of the Year Megan Quinn helped Episcopal Academy claim its first PAISAA championship with a 56-42 win over Inter-Ac rival Germantown Academy, per Matt Smith. More Central League swim coverage from Matthew De George. Haverford’s Brendan Ryan put forth a big performance despite a heavy heart. Haverford freshman Maddie Hart set a pool and meet record by taking down a nearly 20-year-old mark in the 100 backstroke. Bonner-Prendergast claimed the District 12 Class AA championship. Finally, it’s not a track meet unless Garnet Valley two-time track All-Delco Wellington Zaza is setting records like he did at the 48th Track & Field Coaches Association of Greater Philadelphia Meet of Champions.
