We missed out on it late Tuesday night, so we’ll throw a little extra mention up here for the boys Del Val action that was played.
In the battle for second-place behind Penn Wood, Interboro got the better of Academy Park, 5-2, avenging an earlier loss this season. Fisher Sikorsky and Roberto Sanchez each scored twice for the Bucs, and Mike Christaldi added a tally.
Goals by Nabieu Sesay and Ola Gbodi cut a 3-0 Bucs’ lead to a mere goal at 3-2, but Interboro pulled away in a typically frenetic Del Val second half that featured six of the seven tallies.
Sam Ball made four saves for Academy Park, while Interboro’s Chase Rodriguez made five stops.
In the other fixture, Chichester claimed a 4-1 win over Glen Mills, again thanks to a frantic second half. Freshmen Austin Wilson (two) and Jarred Sullivan combined for three goals, with Sullivan’s first-half tally staking the Eagles to a lead at the interval. Brett Wilson added a late insurance tally.
Orlando Carrera scored for the Battlin’ Bulls, which got eight saves from Lance Steele.
Ricky Blair stopped three shots for Chichester, which won its last two games to finish the season 3-11.
The contribution of freshmen in the season finale bodes well for the Eagles, a young team that is hopeful to have gone through growing pains that will pay dividends next season.
“It’s good for us,” coach Jim Curry said. “We lost a lot of one-goal games and overtime games like Penncrest and Harriton. … They’re young, and they didn’t quit late.”
