Girls Soccer Super 7, Sept. 18

(records based on games reported to the Daily Times through Sept. 17)

1. Strath Haven (5-0-0)

The Panthers are scoring goals through a host of attackers, and Krissy Welsh is making sure the opponents aren’t putting the ball in the back of the net. It adds up to a plus-14 goal differential and the No. 2 ranking in the Southeastern PA Soccer Coaches Association Poll.

2. Radnor (2-3-1)

Let’s be clear: There’s a wide gulf between Nos. 1 and 2 here. The Red Raiders had a rough go of things in the nonleague slate but have gone 2-0-1 in their last three matches. The fact that Taylor Quinn has scored six of the team’s eight goals this season may be concerning.

3. Garnet Valley (2-4-0)

The schedule is doing the Jaguars no favors with matches against Haven and Radnor right out of the shoot, making the stratification here a no brainer. How the Jags respond after that opening gauntlet – I suspect it’ll be pretty well – will determine their fate this season.

4. Cardinal O’Hara (4-1-2)

The Wroblewski duo, Catherine and Christina, have been scoring goals in bunches, but this team could go as far as Carrie Zamonski’s goalkeeping may determine their fate.

5. Penncrest (3-2-0)

Now to decode the tangled mess that is the rest of the Central League. Penncrest beat Marple Newtown, which beat Haverford, which beat Ridley. Sounds like a chain of reasoning built for Super 7 construction.

6. Marple Newtown (3-2-0)

The Haverford win gives them the edge, but it should be noted that the Tigers lost to O’Hara, just four spots higher, 5-0, in the season opener.

7. Haverford (5-1-0)

The Fords are getting just enough offense, thanks in large part of Olivia Butera. Though the Fords beat Ridley, it may be the Green Raiders who occupy this spot in the near future.
